Recording of the collabinar: teaching citizen science (UC Davis)

Early in May, I had the pleasure of participating in the University of California at Davis (UC Davis) Center for Community and Citizen Science Collabinar. The event was an opportunity to reflect on the development of teaching citizen science at UCL – the creation of a graduate-level course, the development of training modules within the EU-Citizen.Science project, and the development of the MSc in citizen science (yet to be proved if it works!).

The questions that I posed for this session are

  • Why is it challenging to design teaching programs for citizen science?
  • How do we create training programs that maintain a pluralistic understanding of citizen science?
  • How do we manage the ethical contradictions of professionalising citizen science-who might be the losers?

The recording of the collabinar is available on the Zoom link of UC Davis CCS
